dSPACE opens Charging Competence Center in Munich

dSpace Charging01 April 2022 - dSPACE is pooling its expertise in the development and testing of charging technologies and expanding its Project Center Munich, which has been in operation for 20 years, to include a Charging Competence Center. To support customers worldwide in developing and validating next-generation charging technologies, dSPACE is investing heavily in the expansion of its development and engineering capacity and is transferring the further development of its smart-charging range to the Charging Competence Center.

To this end, dSPACE is expanding its team of experts on site. The new competence center's products and services range from solutions for communication testing of all global charging standards to charging station emulators and comprehensive test libraries for standards compliance.

For many years, dSPACE experts in the Munich area have been working together with developers at dSPACE headquarters in Paderborn to develop test solutions for charging technologies. In addition to testing power components for AC and DC charging, one focus is on testing the complex communication between the charging station and electric vehicles.

"Uncomplicated and fast charging is the basic prerequisite for the acceptance of e-mobility. We are currently seeing a great need for validating the interface between the charging station and the electric vehicle. Because the two sides of this complex communication are developed independently, interoperability is difficult to achieve. With the establishment of the Charging Competence Center, we can provide tailored solutions for customers worldwide by bringing together development and engineering to ensure interoperability, while ensuring that they achieve their development goals more quickly," says Florian Bauer, who, as a long-standing project manager for the Smart Charging Solution, now also heads the Competence Center.

The Charging Competence Center works in close coordination with the e-mobility experts at dSPACE Paderborn, who continue to develop solutions for testing converters at signal and power level as well as battery management systems. This is how dSPACE lives up to its claim of offering the most comprehensive range of simulation and validation services worldwide.

The new competence center's products and services range from solutions for communication testing of all global charging standards to charging station emulators and comprehensive test libraries for standards compliance.
