Latest Test and Measurement NewsPrecision S/N, C/N, C/No, C/I and Eb/No Measurements18 November 2010 - Noisecom, a Wireless Telecom Group company, has launched its new CNG-EbNo series of precision signal-to-noise generators. These analyzers are designed for Carrier-to-Noise (C/N), Carrier-to-Noise density (C/No), Signal-to-Noise (S/N), Carrier-to-Interferer (C/I) and Bit Energy-to-Noise density (Eb/No) analysis.
The instruments are used for satellite communications, cable TV, telecommunications, and many other critical applications that demand accuracy and repeatability in the analysis of data transmission systems. “Our new CNG-EbNo series succeed Noisecom’s well-known UFX-EbNo products. The CNG-EbNo is an essential instrument for applications requiring high data rates that have to be transmitted reliably under challenging circumstances, such as weak signals embedded within high adjacent noise levels,” stated Wolfgang Damm, director of product management with WTG. “CNG-EbNo is a truly versatile instrument. It not only provides a variety of highly accurate noise ratios, it also serves as a true RMS power meter and can be utilized as a precision noise generator.” CNG-EbNo analyzers are available in a variety of off-the-shelf frequency bands. Noisecom also provides customized frequency bands. The analyzer is available in 50 or 75 ohms impedance versions. Signal input range is -55 dBm to +5dBm. Nominal gain for the carrier path is +/-1.0dB with a gain resolution of 0.1dB, and flatness from +/- 0.2 dB. Group delay is < +/- 200 ps. An optional tracking feature stabilizes unstable input signals that may have level shifts of +4 to -4 dB. The tracker updates at a rate of 100 milliseconds. Noise path has 0.1 dB resolution and +/- 0.2 dB flatness within -55dBm and +5dBm range. Ratio accuracy is better than +/- 0.2 dB RSS, and +/- 0.3 dB WCU. During bit energy-to-noise density analysis, CNG-EbNo analyzers calculate noise density automatically based on user specified bit rates, which can range from 1 bps to 999Mbps. The new CNG-EbNo comes with a convenient touch screen display that allows easy setting of all measurement parameters. Related Articles: |
