Conformance Test System achieves GCF Validation for LTE-A Mobile Terminal Certification

Anritsu-ME7873L08 April 2014 - Anritsu announced that the ME7873L RF Conformance Test System has become the world’s first GCF-approved mobile test system to achieve more than 80% of test cases approved for LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation. Conformance Test systems must obtain GCF approval for at least 80% of test cases as a condition of them being accepted for use in terminal certification by GCF.

Anritsu’s ME7873L RF Conformance Test System achieved the world’s first GCF Carrier Aggregation test case approvals in October 2013, followed by additional certification for new test cases in January 2014. As a result it is the world’s first test system supporting RF/RRM conformance tests with 80% of GCF test cases. The approvals were made using the 3GPP frequency band pairs of Band 1–5 and Band 3–8. This means that the ME7873L is the first LTE Test Platform to reach the approvals milestone, and is first to be used for Carrier Aggregation device certification.

The LTE-Advanced standard is the latest 4G high-speed mobile standard now being widely deployed by network operators, following the 2013 first launch in Korea. Network operators are deploying LTE-Advanced driven by the market need for higher capacity and greater peak data rates in the network. Carrier Aggregation technology allows these networks to achieve up to 300 MB/s peak data rates. The GCF self-certification scheme enables device manufacturers to certify devices as 3GPP compliant, and so increase confidence in the correct operation of the device in networks.

Michal Spatny, General Manager of Anritsu EMEA Ltd, commented that “The ME7873x platform has a long established history of leading GCF certification, from being the first 3G approved platform, first LTE approved platform, and now first approved for LTE-Advanced. The system is the industry’s most widely used RF/RRM conformance test platform, and offers the most stable and reliable operation as well as leading test case coverage and capability. Anritsu Corporation is extremely proud to be continuing this industry leadership into LTE-Advanced, and maintaining close alignment to the market needs”.
