Model-based ECU Testing with EtherCAT Connection

14 April 2014 – Berner & Mattner has released the new version 3.9 of its MESSINA test system. This test platform enables model-based testing of ECUs from models to HiL test benches, and now additionally offers an EtherCAT connection and FMI (Functional Mockup Interface) for verifying models in different modeling languages.

With its new version 3.9 Berner & Mattner has further expanded MESSINA’s range of functions and integration options as a high-performance test platform for the development of automobile electronics.

Thanks to the new FMI (Function Mockup Interface), models in various modeling languages can be integrated into the MESSINA Windows test environment. In this way functions and systems can be automatically tested with complex environments – even in the early stages.

Affordable, Scalable Connection via EtherCAT

A further innovation in version 3.9 is the EtherCAT connection. With its aid developers can now use this well-established standard to develop ECUs as well. The rapidly increasing number of EtherCAT components and the network protocol enable decentralized, real-time signal detection. This real-time standard has already proven its worth in automation technology, as it’s highly scalable, simple to use, and cost-effective. It is also increasingly being recognized in the automotive test industry, while additionally providing developers in this field with greater flexibility when selecting hardware.
