WLAN Test Set supports IEEE802.11ac Standard

15 February 2017 – Anritsu Corporation has released the new Wireless Connectivity Test Set MT8862A, an integrated one-box test set specifically for testing 802.11 WLAN devices. With built-in communications protocols, the MT8862A measures the performance of the WLAN devices in the actual operating state, and is the first test equipment of its kind to support all IEEE802.11ac/n/a/g/b standards.

The rapid expansion of the Internet of Things has meant that the use of WLAN technology is no longer just limited to mobile devices such as smartphones. It is now being used in a wide range of IoT applications, including home electronics such printers and TVs, the connected car, industrial equipment, sensors, and many more.

Generally, WLAN test equipment for manufacturing tests use a special inspection test mode for measurement that requires a physical control line connection between the WLAN devices and test equipment. In this configuration the test results are not a true measure of the actual performance as seen by users because the performance of the measured WLAN devices is analyzed using physical connection with a control line, without taking into account the effect of the internal wireless antennas.

The Wireless Connectivity Test Set MT8862A is targeted at design and quality assurance of WLAN devices. It has built-in standard WLAN protocol messaging (WLAN signaling) with Network Mode for testing the transmitter and receiver performance of a WLAN device non-destructively and using an OTA (Over The Air) measurement. The MT8862A offers faster integration into production, a universal solution for all WLAN chip sets, and is simpler to maintain and calibrate. It also reduces test system costs, increases production throughput, and delivers the most flexible WLAN testing available.
