Compact 6-20GHz Spectrum Analyzer

29 July 2021 - Saelig Company added the SAF Tehnika J0SSAP52 6GHz-20GHz Spectrum Compact Analyzer to its portfolio. This ultra-portable handheld microwave spectrum analyzer supports 6GHz – 20GHz frequencies with a high sensitivity of -110dBm at 30kHz resolution bandwidth, and an instant-on functionality for quick start-up and operation. This high-performance instrument, which rivals desktop units, is designed in a rugged, IP54-rated, ultra-compact (5.31” x 3.27” x 1.34”) and lightweight (20oz) form factor.

The internal battery allows for 4 hours of continuous use, or indefinitely via 5V at the USB-C port. Standard SMA connectors allow the Spectrum Compact to integrate with commonly available antennas or waveguide systems, and the high sensitivity and low noise floor design make it possible to even detect exceptionally weak signals. Measurements include channel power (total power in a specified bandwidth), adjacent channel power, signal bandwidth, center frequency, interference detection, mask measurements, and many more. Spectrum traces can be saved in the integrated 8GB memory, for offline analysis, investigation, and reporting using the free Spectrum Manager PC software supplied.

The Spectrum Compact family has been specifically designed to address the challenges of field applications. These handheld spectrum analyzers have a resistive touchscreen for gloved operation, with high contrast and full display modes for easy readability in bright light environments. Durable thumbscrews for the waveguide adapter connections help the Spectrum Compact to withstand harsh environments. Due to its very high built-in frequency range, the battery-powered Spectrum Compact does not require an external down-converter or a connection to a PC, and is an invaluable tool for field engineers performing microwave equipment installation, link troubleshooting, site planning and maintenance in real field environment.

This new 6GHz–20GHz instrument extends the frequency range for the Spectrum Compact family that includes the world’s only portable E-band (70-87GHz) and V-band (56-71GHz) handheld spectrum analyzers.

The J0SSAP52 is ideal for mobile carriers, telecommunications professionals, Internet service providers (ISPs), and contractors responsible for regulatory and compliance, drone applications, and satellite operation. Designed specifically for comfortable outdoor use by microwave network engineers, Spectrum Compact can also be used for additional applications in Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), LTE, VSAT, 5G and the cellular network environment.
